Love Beyond Measure, Grace That Never Ends

“If God is for us, who can ever be against us?”
-Romans 8:31

Reading this verse really convicted me. Jesus, the author of the universe, the Creator, the Almighty, is for me! He is on my side. If He is on my side, who can be against me? I am really hard on myself and sometimes it truly is as if I am against myself. Who am I to talk down to myself or lessen my value. Jesus came for me. Jesus chose me. He knew how much it would cost, yet He gave up everything for me. I have to find my value in His love and in the price He paid for me on the Cross. Because of Jesus, we are forgiven. We are free. Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. But we have to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).” When we try to tell ourselves we aren’t good enough, we just have to remind ourselves that the One who lives in us, make us enough. He is more than enough.

Jesus in all of His perfection, “has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).” I have a Life Application Study Bible and in the commentary under that verse, it reads, “East and west can never meet. This is a symbolic portrait of God’s forgiveness: When He forgives our sin, he separates it from us and doesn’t even remember it.” When He speaks our name, when He thinks of us, He doesn’t automatically associate us with our sins as we assume that He does. He sees us as His beloved child, whom He adores. If Christ can forgive our sins and remove them, separate them, from us as far as the east is from the west, we also have to forgive-others and ourselves.

Jesus gives us a new identity. He recreates us. It won’t happen overnight but we have to remember the One who is by our side, fighting with us and for us. He will never abandon us. He loves so perfectly, so willingly. We have to learn to love like that. Nothing is wasted. Everything has a purpose. Everyone has a purpose! We are so dearly loved and we have to share that with the world. We have to accept that for ourselves. The love of Christ crossed Heaven to come to earth so we could cross from death to life!
