No Limit to His Faithful Love

“And because I preach this Good News, I am suffering and have been chained like a criminal. But the Word of God cannot be chained.”
-2 Timothy 2:9

“If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.”
-2 Timothy 2:13

“The Word of God cannot be chained (restrained.)” Restrain means to “keep under control or within limits; deprive of freedom of movement.” The Word of God is alive. It is God-breathed. The Word of God is not limited by our understanding. Our minds cannot fully comprehend all that God has in store. His Word cannot be controlled. Jesus Culture has a song on one of their albums called, “Set a Fire” and the words go something like this: “Set a fire down in my soul that I can’t contain, that I can’t control. I want more of you, God.” As we read His Word, we gain more knowledge of who He is and what He is trying to say to us. The more we get to know Him through His Word, the more on fire we become.

His Word does not chain us or seek to control us. His word liberates us. His grace gives us life. He is faithful, even when we fail Him because He cannot be unfaithful. He is the same “yesterday, today, and forever.” He will never love us any less that He did when He chose to bear our cross. He didn’t make anything about Him and neither should we. We are His servants called to live holy lives to glorify Him alone. Wherever He has us, He has us for His ultimate plan and purpose. He is a good Father who does not want us to suffer. He sees the bigger picture, the masterpiece.

There is so much more that He wants for us if we are willing to “go” and “do!” We have to be obedient in the small ways that he has already called us to before we can be trusted with the bigger assignments of His perfect plan. We will not be shaken for our firm foundation is secure in the Lord. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). This verse keeps re-occuring and I believe it’s because I am afraid. I have allowed my circumstances to shake me.
